Kathy Landes began attending Church for Today one year ago. She has always been a seeker and found the group of people on the same path at our church. Rev. Janette’s talk on that first Sunday resonated with Kathy. It has continued to be that way ever since, as each message strikes a chord with her. Kathy has been married for 30 years to Gary. They have 6 children, including twin daughters, and 13 grandchildren. They lived in Placerville and were planning to retire in Palm Springs when Gary retired. Instead, they found themselves making visits to Fresno to help care for one of their grandchildren. In the process of bonding with their grandchild, they bonded with Fresno and decided to retire here instead. Kathy has always done lots of volunteer work. She was Director of Human Concern Ministry in Placerville. She worked with 13 ministries, which did outreach to clothe and feed the homeless, provide meals for funerals, etc. Kathy has a long background of volunteerism. She believes volunteering is a joy, and there is no reward comparable to that joy or to the blessing you receive from being a volunteer.
